The Pacuare Lodge - Costa Rica
Come immerse yourself in the beauty of tropical nature…

Dear traveler,

I’d like to invite you to experience the beauty and serenity of our lodge nestled in the rainforest on the bank of Costa Rica’s spectacular Pacuare River. I first paddled by the lodge’s remote site more than two decades ago, when I started guiding white water trips down that gorgeous river. After starting my own rafting company, I dreamt of buying land on the river to build a lodge where people could slow down and enjoy the area’s amazing scenery and wildlife. The Pacuare Lodge is my dream made reality, and the vast majority of people who stay there agree that it’s a truly magical place.

My goal was to create a place where people could enjoy nature while respecting and protecting the environment. From day one, I’ve tried to have a positive impact on the lodge’s surroundings and neighbors while providing guests with an educational, exciting and sublimely natural experience. The Pacuare Lodge’s eco-friendly bungalows are surrounded by exuberant tropical foliage, nestled between the river and our private nature reserve, which conserves 300 hectares (740 acres) of primary rainforest. The buildings are made of wood from tree farms and palm thatch collected in the rainforest by our Cabecar Indian neighbors. Each bungalow combines sustainable practices such as solar-heated water and low-impact septic systems with comforts such as orthopedic mattresses and spacious bathrooms.

At the Pacuare Lodge, you can bird watch, hike, swim, fish, explore the rainforest canopy, visit a traditional indigenous community, or simply relax. Most people stay there on 2-day, or 3-day river rafting packages, but you can also visit the lodge without descending the Pacuare River, which makes it an option for families with young children and other travelers who aren’t up for a white water trip. Though the scenery and nature are spectacular, guests are equally impressed with the service, comfort, food and details such as the wine cellar, candlelight dinners and massage therapist. Many also applaud our commitment to conservation, improving life in nearby communities, and mitigating our environmental impact through recycling, organic ingredients and reforestation, which allows us to offer you a carbon-neutral vacation. Don’t take my word for it, though, have a look at our guestbook or guest comments. I hope they convince you to contact us. We’d be happy to host your best vacation ever.

Sincerely,

Roberto Fernandez – Owner
